Cell Culture Compact Course

Target Group

Technologists or scientists without any previous knowledge or possessing only basic knowledge

Content/Learning Objective

This course will teach you basic knowledge or improve your existing expertise, so that daily working with cell culture will become safer and more efficient. Most of the time new employees in the cell culture field can only acquire the basic knowledge they need by reproducing what their colleagues do. Thus binding standards which are essential for the comparability of the test results are frequently missing. Teaching practical experience is the main priority of the course and to meet this requirement, following topics will be dealt with: sterile working, production of cell culture media, subculture of cells, cell counting, cryopreservation of the cells etc. In the practical part we will work on both cell lines and Human Primary Cells. In the theoretical part of the basic course you will learn how to build up your cell culture laboratory under rigorous safety and hygiene conditions. In addition we will present the basics of a scientific documentation in the field of cell culture which will give you precious advice for achieving high reproducibility of the cells and quick analysis of mistakes.

Sterile working, routine methods in the cell culture, media and supplements, cell culture dishes, building up a cell culture laboratory, documentation
