PCR Compact Course
Target Group
Technical and scientific staff members without previous knowlegde, which are interested in using the PCR-technique in the laboratory
Content/Learning Objective
The PCR Basics seminar is for technical or academic staff members without any previous knowledge in the field of PCR, who plan to establish this technology in their labs in the future. Beside the theoretical principles of PCR, the different reaction components will be intensively discussed during the course. Moreover, the seminar will cover the detection and data analysis on the basis of gel electrophoresis. The participants will get an overview of special applications e.g. gradient PCR, Real Time PCR and reverse transcription. Furthermore, the optimization of the PCR conditions, Primerdesign and trouble shooting will be a main part of the course. During the practical part a DNA fragment will be amplified under different conditions and the products will be analyzed with the help of gel electrophoresis. At the end of the seminar all participants will be capable of performing a PCR assay and the analysis of the data.
Main Topics
Basics of PCR, optimization of the PCR conditions, Primerdesign, special PCR applications, trouble shooting
