Immunohistochemistry Compact Course

Content & Learning Objective

Immunohistochemistry is a versatile and highly specific technique for the detection of antigens in cells or histological sections. However, to obtain reproducible results, basic knowledge of protein biochemistry and specimen preparation as well as quality control is indispensable.

This hands-on practical course will cover topics such as:

  • Immunochemistry and immunofluorescence basics, (dilution of antibodies, incubation, stability, cross-reactivity etc.)
  • Different detection methods
  • Tissue processing: cell processing, paraffin and frozen section fixation, and deparaffination of tissues
  • Antigen demasking
  • Standardization and quality control
  • Immunohistochemical staining procedures
  • Trouble shooting: problems such as high background, application of controls, and false-positive results

Target Group

Technical and scientific staff members seeking practical guidance to establish or improve their immunohistochemical techniques. Participants are invited to bring their own slides for consultation during the course.
